Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (GGV), a Central University of India located in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, was established under the Central Universities Act 2009, No. 25 of 2009. Formerly known as Guru Ghasidas University, it was inaugurated on June 16, 1983, following its establishment by an Act of the State Legislative Assembly. Named after the great 17th-century Satnami Saint Guru Ghasidas, the university honors his relentless struggle against social evils and injustice, advocating for the downtrodden.
